Winter market!

This morning was the launch of Portland's new winter farmers' market, and it was so much more exciting than I'd hoped it would be! (And I was already pretty excited.) A proper market! With lots of vendors and all sorts of offerings, including winter veggies and cheese and eggs and spices and olive oil and maple syrup. I tried to make a good circuit to see everything that was on offer, but it was packed (also a good thing, I suppose). But I got good things, and I'll go back again happily next week (and the week after, and the week after, until April 24, which is, I guess, when the regular outdoor market opens again?). So, very happy to be able to say,

From the winter market:
-parsnips
-celeriac
-spinach
-eggs
-bay leaves
-"Olde Shiretowne" cheese

So today I'm going to make roasted winter vegetable soup, some focaccia al'olio, and (if my olive oil supply holds out), a batch of olive oil granola. And do a little laundry, and read a little more Julia Child, and enjoy the sunshine.
